Built by my great-great-grandfather George Crosland, a local woollen manufacturer. It passed to his yougest son Charles who died in 1870 who paid the estate £4000 for it. Occupied by his widow, my great grandmother Eliza nee Thornton and her children until she died in 1917. Most of the estate was purchased by the council and houses were built on it. The main house became the Liberal Club until the 1990s when it became a pub and was renamed The Manor. Currently being converted into apartments. Information provided by Peter Crosland 28.12.2007.
